Hi ladies,
Great job last week ladies with another sweep. As we continue to dominate in league play, my only concern is how you ladies will handle adversity against stiffer competition. I know we have had some tough matches along the way that we were able to pull out, but I want you all to challenge yourselves more. I want and need you ladies to be tougher on yourselves and force yourselves to play harder and smarter. Focus on hitting with better accuracy on every shot. Focus on not being afraid at the net when the ball is hit at you. Focus on keeping your cool when you get the high floater volley and finish off the point before you get excited and over hit the shot. Focus and practice playing your best tennis when it matters most. No matter the level of competition, you should be pushing yourselves to reach new heights in your own games. You all know what you need to work on getting better at, so use these matches to develop your weaknesses. Every match is a practice match. Trust your training, trust your shots and don't be afraid to make mistakes. Remember to think about your first two shots before each point starts. This will help you focus on the ball better as well as help you strategically map out points in order to have a better understanding of the game.
Let's finish the season strong and feeling good about our games. Believe in yourselves and your teammates. Communicate with one another and play together. Build each others confidence and keep in mind that no one is perfect. I want to challenge you ladies to get an early lead in each set and focus on closing out each set by holding serve the rest of the way through. This should allow you to take more chances and swing more freely on return of serve games. I challenge you all not to get excited on the floater balls and do what is expected of you on those shots. I challenge you all not to be afraid when you're at net. Be fearless and take care of business in your matches.
Always believe,
Shaun.
