Hi ladies,
What more can I say ladies, but job well done once again. As screwed up as these start times have been for these last couple of matches, it's actually preparing you ladies for what is to come during districts. Accept it for what it is. It's out of your control. These situations force you to be ready for anything and everything. At districts, not every match will go on at the same time unless we are the first matches of the day. So during those times when you're supporting your teammates, you should be loose and relaxed and taking your mind off of your match. You don't want to dwell on your match too much leading up to it. These are the times that you should feel confident in yourself and you feel good about your yourself going into your match. You shouldn't be worried about this, that and the other. You have to remember that you have been here before, many of times. You are seasoned vets. You know what to expect. Been there, done that. Trust what you have done in the regular season and bring that experience to the playoffs. In this last match or two of the regular season, focus on what you need to work on and what you feel you can be better at during your matches. Don't go into the match just focused on getting the win. Small steps turn into miles. Practice going for the shots you know you need to work on. Hit them at the right time though. Don't just hit the shot for the sake of trying it when it's not the right time to do so. Be smart and patient about your plan of attack. Trust me, you will have plenty of opportunities to execute those shots. Let's be mentally tougher and concentrate on staying focused when we have leads. Not allowing our opponent(s) to get back into the set or the match when we have a comfortable lead. Keep your foot on their throat as I always tell you. Don't ease up on the pressure and allow them to breathe comfortably. Again, have a game plan in mind going into the match and before each point. Even if it doesn't work out, having a plan is better than having no plan whatsoever. You're training yourselves to be smarter mentally and physically. Play fearless tennis from here on out. It's going to pay off in the end.
Always believe,
Shaun.
